Founded during the 1940s, Outposts became one of the significant small-press poetry magazines in Britain, providing a platform for both established poets and emerging voices. Under Sergeant’s long editorship the journal developed a reputation for publishing a broad range of contemporary poetry and literary commentary.
This issue includes contributions from Laurence Lerner, David Holbrook, and Alex Comfort, the latter widely known as both a poet and author of The Joy of Sex. Additional work appears by Neil Powell, Tony Curtis, Wes Magee, John Fairfax and others.
The magazine also includes reviews and commentary by several literary critics, reflecting the vibrant British small-press poetry scene of the late twentieth century.
