Caught in a book vortex

Have you ever been in the situation when you should have been getting on with the daily something, only to find yourself sucked into a book vortex?

While cataloging books this morning, we found a nice copy of 'The Undercliff of the Isle of Wight' by J. L. Whitehead (1911). A 'harmless' flick through its pages found us on the chapter about Niton, where Ephemerara is based. Nothing wrong with that you might think, but within the blink of a bookworm's eye, we were drawn in, absorbed with information about the village's historical past and its colourful characters. When we 'came to', the book vortex had released us and some 20 minutes had just disappeared. 

There were other Isle of Wight books that needed cataloguing this morning. The risks were too great. We decided to move on to Natural History. Then we found an interesting book on the mammals of Great Britain...
