First edition of ESP in Life and Lab: Tracing Hidden Channels by Louisa E. Rhine, published in 1967 by Macmillan. Free UK Postage.

Louisa Rhine was a pioneering figure in the study of parapsychology and collaborated closely with her husband J. B. Rhine, whose laboratory at Duke University became the centre of twentieth-century research into extrasensory perception (ESP).

In this work, Rhine examines a large body of reported ESP experiences collected from thousands of individuals. Drawing on case studies, correspondence and laboratory research, she categorises forms of extrasensory perception such as telepathy, clairvoyance and precognition. The book also discusses related phenomena including psychokinesis and the difficulties of conducting controlled experimental research in the field.

The study represents one of the major attempts to bridge laboratory research with spontaneous experiences reported by the public during the mid-twentieth century and remains an important document in the history of parapsychology.
